Faolán Carey is a portrait and documentary photographer born and based in Dublin, Ireland. A self taught photographer, he has been developing his artistic process while also working commercially for the past 6 years. Faolán's commercial career has partially grown out of his proximity to youth and music culture in Dublin. He has had work published in; NME, The Fader and more. Since beginning his career he has won an Emerging Artist grant with Fingal County Council and been featured in numerous group shows including the Hermione Exhibition at Alexandra College and has continued to showcase his growth as an up and coming photographer. Faolán's personal work, sometimes unintentionally, sits at the crossroads between deeply personal, lived experiences and broader working class issues in Ireland. His photographs delicately balance warmth and intimacy with underlying narrative references to local histories and tradition.
